Create a QR invoice in four steps
- From: name or company, address and IBAN. The generator recognises a QR-IBAN and picks the right reference.
- To: your customer’s name and address. With a full address they appear under “Payable by”.
- Line items: description, quantity, unit and price. Subtotal, VAT and total are calculated, with rounding to 5 centimes if you like.
- Download the PDF: the invoice with Swiss QR code is ready to send.
What a correct QR invoice contains
Since October 2022 the QR bill has replaced the red and orange payment slips. At the bottom of the invoice is the payment part with receipt and Swiss QR code: account, payee, amount, currency, reference and message. Your customers scan the code in their banking app without typing anything.
- QR-IBAN only with a QR reference, regular IBAN with an RF reference or no reference
- Structured addresses: street, number, postcode and city in separate fields
- Payment part printed at actual size, never scaled down
- Invoice number and title as the message so the payment can be matched

Invoice not paid?
With the payment reminder template you create a reminder with a new payment part for the amount due. In Velro this happens automatically: Velro spots overdue invoices and suggests the right reminder level.
Frequently asked questions
Is the QR invoice generator really free?
Yes, free and unlimited, with no sign-up and no subscription. The PDF carries a small note “Created with Velro”. If you invoice regularly, Velro with a subscription creates invoices from quotes or customer emails, sends them and follows up on open amounts.
Do I need a QR-IBAN?
No. With your regular IBAN the invoice gets a creditor reference (RF reference). If you enter a QR-IBAN, the generator automatically uses a 27-digit QR reference. All Swiss banks process both.
Is my data stored?
No. Your entries are sent to our server only to create the PDF and are then discarded. So you don’t have to type everything again, your browser keeps the entries locally.
Can I email or print the QR invoice?
Both. The QR code can be scanned on screen and on paper. For sending by post, the standard requires perforated paper so the payment part can be detached.
Which currencies and VAT rates are supported?
The QR payment part is defined for Swiss francs (CHF) and euros (EUR). For VAT choose 8.1 %, 2.6 %, 3.8 % or no VAT if you are not registered.
